here we go again the media circus has England as winners already.to say that our group is easy is stupid and an insult to the other countries.Yes we should win the group but come next June how many of our "stars" will be crocked as usual ?.Until something is done about the amount games international players play you will never get a true result in the world cup.Thats why korea done well in 2002 as they were together for about 8 weeks prior to the finals.Anyway cmon England we have a very good chance if all the players turn up.

wow, another English pundit saying the Germans are old... or not the team they once were. Its laughable!! The Germans young players are far superior to ours, Mesut Ozil is better than any of our youngsters, please Paul do some research about the Germans bfore using the usual cliched rubbish like "their an aging side2 or "not the team they once were" Like England are world beaters

I am glad you have the foresight to pick the Australians. You obviously know a thing about World football, but I can't see Ghana progressing with the Aussies. The Aussies will take all 3 points from the second game. Socceroos have played Ghana on numerous occasions in recent years and have not lost. I think the record is 4-1-0. Germany will progress but not sure whether at first or second spot. If the Poms draw the Socceroos in the last 16, then I believe England will be out. The Socceroos have no fear of England and are relishing an opportunity to play them, as The Socceroos believe England are the weakest of the seeded teams behind Sth Africa. Remember 2003 @ Upton Park (AUS 3 - ENG 1) and both teams were at near full strength. ENOUGH SAID!!!

I agree that the Germans could struggle, however i think Serbia could be a real dark horse this tournament and would put them as group favorites with the germs to fight it out with Ghana and Aussie for that 2nd spot.

I saw somewhere in the paper that Capello will emulate Sir Alf Ramsey. I think it is a joke and journalists are building castles in the air. Sir Alf turned the England team in a major force overnight single handed. Now just tell me what Capello & his entourage who earn millions at our expense has achieved ! I don't see the England team achieving any global success for years to come. The curse of the mighty Ramsey & the legendary Clough on the Football Association still lingers........and take it from me they will be slashed by Algeria

Tyler Clarke (Arsenal fan) says...

As everybody's said a million times- there are no easy games at international level, certainly not in a world cup. But all in all, if Capello had been given the chance to handpick an opponent from each pot, this would probably be the group he'd have chosen. Unless there is a serious (Euro 92 style) collapse we should easily make it to the 2nd round. It'd be great to knock Germany out too!!

England should walk the group, germany have the hardest group. Aussies are a good side, Ghana are one of the strongest african sides, and serbia topped their qualifying group, if i remember righty. not going to be easy

Are you stupid Kyle? How is the Brazil/Cote d'Ivoire/Portugal group not the group of death? And you can argue that Germany's group is tough as well, as well as Group A in terms of its parity.

I hope you're right about Group D, Merse. England v Australia in the Round of 16 would be incredible!

Frankie Dawson (Huddersfield Town fan) says...

i just hope they give it a real go this time.....and dont settle for penalties ever...england either go out after losing on penalties...then there was the hand of god...then in 2002 seaman gets chipped by a free kick...in 2006 englands performances were very poor....not until we faced portugal with ten men did i see the passion.england should top the group...things are never so easy

Andrew Kidd (Chelsea fan) says...

Steve , As every true football fan knows this is the ultimate group of death. You have a point but i would have Portugal to rise for the tournament and win second place in this group. Also lets not forget that in Africa, Ivory Coast could cause Brazil an upset and Portugal at their best are quite able to take on Brazil- this is the group i would NOT like to be in.

Michael Tuckwell (Sunderland fan) says...

Great draw I can actually see Brazil being the big shock casualties North Korea will be the surprise package along with Ghana posing a threat we will need to make sure that we don't get cocky though remember pride before a fall.

Steve Platt (Manchester United fan) says...

The best thing about the draw bar Englands draw was the "Winkers" lot getting Brazil & Ivory Coast, dont fancy there chances of geting through!!!!
