Ed Chamberlin backs Robin van Persie and Serbia at the World Cup - plus has the weekend's best bets.Back to story
Ed I think your a bit wide of the mark with RVP to be top goal scorer, good odds though. He is a very intricate player who will more than likely hold up & feed the likes of Robben, Schnieder & co for their goals. As for Serbia, they could be a dark horse but do they have the tournament pedigree and experience to be considered a real threat? I doubt it.. & Sam Fitzpatrick states Denmark to get to the Semi final, seriously?? I think that one is even wider of the mark! Enjoy the colums, keep them coming

Van Persie for the golden boot easily!

I would have to agree with you Ed in serbia being a dark horse for the world cup and also dont forget about Marko Pantellic he is a very good young forward. They remind me of the old Yugoslavia. Dont agree with van persie or holland though they always a big upset. Think Argentina may surprise sum people. For golden boot; Messi, Villa or luis fabiano

algeria to beat england and to win the the world cup.come on you greens.

Never rule out or discount the Germans, really would rather avoid them then Serbia. Cannot see Holland winning it , Goldne boot Torres, Van Persie or Tevez

Totally agree on Serbia being the surprise picks ed, reckon they will win Germany's group to be honest. Golden boot could be between van persie, villa and messi

im a (arsenal fan) van persie to be the top scorer in the world cup but england all the ways to the final
Posted 13:07 22nd May 2010
Ed, glad to see your backing up my support last week for Serbia! The moneys down to triumph in group D... so hopefully we won't play them in the sixteens. Dunno about you Ed but I'd rather play Germany. Little risk I know , but 14/1 with the Tote for Torres to be top scorer has also attracted me. Easy group and average Portugal and Italy sides to get to a semi...at least

When are Serbia playing Denmark then? They are not in the same group as Denmark. I would back them against Germany though.

I Fancy Denmark for the semi finals and germany to win, denmark each way be a random bet.but i see a shock a brewing :-),Big let downs im guessing will be england, italy and ivory coast.

I think them odds on Van Persie are fantastic!! Im gonna give that a go but I'll give Holland winning a miss.. Cheers Ed
