Jamie Redknapp looks at all 20 Premier League clubs so far, their top performers and New Year needs...Back to story
I can tell you why Arsenal won't win the league this year. Its because there is one team that always seems to REALLY defeat them and they go by the name of . . .(wait for it) . . .Arsenal. Arsenal are their own worst enemy sometimes. Wenger is a class, intelligent, irreplaceable manager, however, he has to loosen up and buy 2 key players to affirm aRsenal's threat in all areas of the pitch. Clichy is out of it and he needs to be replaced, and we're in need of a commanding centre back (Mexes), if arsenal were to sell the likes of Clichy, Squilacci, Vela, Almunia, and possibly Denilson, that should generate enough money to buy a player like Mexes and perhaps move vermaelen out to left back. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with arsenal's attack, the only time we have a dry spell in front of goal is only because we are nervous about getting hit on th break, but with a solid defence, we need not worry about it

Jamie, please stop. Just stop. Your English is atrocious, your insight is minimal and if it were not for the existence of the cliché, you'd be in severe linguistic trouble. This Christmas, I hope the powers that be decide to put you out of your misery. Go back to selling video games (ineptly).

Man U- with Anderson and Carrick regaining form- they should win the league Chelsea- need more strength in depth Arsenal- need two or three solid players in midfield and defence Man City- Not sure what it is... but there is definitely something missing in the side that means they won't win the league Tottenham- They'll miss Huddlestone and dunno if they'll make 4th spot but they'll get through to the quarters Sunderland- Lots of quality, very young side though, can they keep it up? Bolton- Just wonder if they can keep it up Newcastle- as we all know, can Pardew carry on from Hughton Liverpool- agree with Redknapp, too many players that aren't good enough to hold down a regular spot Blackpool- can they keep up the fine form? West Brom- they'll stay up but next season will be a test Blackburn- should stay up, see if this Kean is a decent manager Stoke- Might get dragged into the fight, Someone needs to start firing in the goals Everton- will be in the fight for 6th Villa- mid-table finish, need some experiene and more strength in depth Birmingham- We could well be down in the dogfight come the end of the season, I'd love to see Chucho back, somebody who can create something from nothing and create some chances for us, Jerome seems to work for nothing whereas he had somebody helping him last year! Fulham- They should stay up, missing Zamora badly Wigan- funny side, I couldn't say where they'll be Wolves- I thought they would do better than they are! West Ham- Obinna looks good, but Piquionne, Cole and Barrera don't look any good as yet, need a real goalscorer and some more fight!

Spot on report by Jamie and I would have to agree with most of if not all of his top players so far this season. I think that united are struggling to find goals this season but have a very strong defence. I think that united need to bring in a top class striker in january. As for liverpool, Roy a top class manager? As soon as he came to liverpool he signed the likes of koncesky and poulson and honestly I think that is money wasted, they need some strengh in their team, Reina, gerrard and torres are by far their best players and torres isn't playing quite as well as he is capable of and gerrard is having a very quiet season by his standards too... I think that Roy did a great job with Fulham and thats probably where he was best off... liverpool are just a club in need of serious renovations...

Jamie, I completely disagree on Hogdson. He is a mid-table manager and not good enough for Liverpool. The excuse that he needs his players is absolute rubbish. No coach comes into a team and buys 11 new players. This same players 2 years ago were bashing Man utd, Real Madrid and others four goals. Liverpool still have some of the best players in the Premeirship, Gerrard, Torres, Reina, Kuyt, Johnson etc are all top class internationals and are not bad players because Roy did not buy them. Looking at the team today, Roy has brought in four players who apart from Merieles are completely useless to the team, so 36% of the team is completely his. I always laugh when he is compared to Rafa, the british press might not like Rafa but records don't lie. Apart from Sir Alex and Mourinho, I struggle to see any coach who have achieved more in the last decade: Champions league, Uefa cup, 2 Spanish titles, English FA cup. I am not suggesting he comes back but using him as an excuse for Roy's utter failure is ludicrous.

So proud of West Brom so far this season...RDM has done a great job and long may it continue......boing boing.....more credit to the hard working teams please pundits, its not all about the "big four" anymore!!!

I disagree with some but overall it is very good. The Chelsea one they still have a great team and will still be there come may along with Manchester Utd (Utd probably ahead) I also agree with every star player :D Merry Christmas

Jamie thanks alot for the vote of convidence in our coach , but be honest with yourself .The guy has nothing to give to my beloved Liverpool , his body language in the last game i watched , he looked like a guy going into fit or something and concediring his age it could have been possible. We have world class players all we need is a coach with world class ideas and strategies to move us forward

What Arsenal need is a top class game breaker like Makelele.. Been missing some steel in the centre for years.. Especially with two attacking full backs we need more cover.. And it would help if Song played more like a defensive midfielder.. Atleast against the big sides.. Djourou has looked pretty decent this season.. Guess with a few more games he could just be a decent centre back..

Carolyn Jones - not sure how old you are or what you really know about football outside of Liverpool? Roy Hodgson is not a mid-table manager, have a look at his pedigree. SAF didn't start that well at United and look what's happened since! Give this man a chance, Jamie is spot on. As a United fan I feel Hodgson could cause us problems in the future. Then look at Benitez - couldn't buy the right player and fit him into a squad to save his life - now out of work again, surprise surprise.

When will you all realize that rooney is completely over-rated cause he was seen as he gr8 hope of english football and had just a lucky patch of form in the middle of last season.Compare him to other top strikers like drogba, villa, torres, tevez or eto'o,he cant finish like any of them or get past players with the ball like drog, tevez & torres, score amazing solos like drog or torres or even take free kicks like drogba. When tevez and ronaldo were at manu he was completely overshadowed by them.

I think most of these mid-season reports are quite accurate! Although Jamie Redknapp says his main concern with United at the start of the season was the back four? I have to strongly dissagree with that. The back 4 at United is were i feel we are probably at our best. Rio Ferdinand, i admit was a bit of a worry with injuries at the start of the campaign, but you cant deny the mans ability and class. He was by far the best defender in Europe during the 2006/07, 2007/08 and 2008/09 seasons, and that is down to his extreme ability combined with consistency! I always believed that as soon as he could get fit again and put a run of games together, he would get back to his usual great form! Ferdinand and Vidic are still the best central defensive pairing in England, and adding to them Patrice Evra at left back, and now young Rafael at right back we have an exceptional defensive unit! United could have run away with the title by now had it not been for Rooneys lack of form and all the fuss that has gone with him so far this season! Every team, no matter who you are, needs there best players playing well if they are going to win the top honours! Berbatov,Nani,Fletcher,Park etc have done well so far,and i hope they continue to play well, but i expect Rooney to kick on in the new year and push United on! But i also expect the same with Lampard at Chelsea, so it will be another titanic battle between United and Chelsea for the title after the turn of the year! The 2 games between the 2 teams will be crucial again this season!

To Carolyn Jones, how can you even judge Hodgson, this season hes taken a club who was in free fall from the season before and steadied it out for the time being, he just ask Jamie says needs to bring in his own players before you can judge him. Lets be fair Liverpools squad is awful Carraghers past it. You need a new center back center midfielder both wings and a forward, Have a little faith in Roy. Oh btw Man U to win their 19th :)

Hi Jamie, i still think that chelsea will bounce back to their form and as of Man U, I strongly believed that they will slip along the line and the sacking of Ray in the chelsea team has an effect on the players responds to the bust-up they have in dressing room. but believe me the chelsea players that you see is big boys and they know all it takes to revive their misfurtune. I still believed that chelsea will be putin pressure on Man U comes May.

Woy Hodgson a "top manager" ? c'mon Jamie, be realistic and stop trying to make him seem like a good manager. Like the other comments he is a mid-table manager, incharge of a top side he doesnt know what to with
Posted 07:19 24th December 2010
Certainly near enough the true state of most teams.UTD usually kick on in the second half and to be honest they look as if they will take the league title record. I also don't see us finishing in the top 6. The away record is nothing short of a disgrace any other manger in the league would have lost his job over this. We need a radical overhaul and until this happens and we get a world class manager we will struggle. Too many below par players purchased over the last few years has diluted us into mediocrity .
Posted 05:45 24th December 2010
I think that Liverpool need a charismatic manager. Best solution, get Ian Hollaway to Liverpool. He'll do just fine!!
Posted 05:34 24th December 2010
For Jamie Redknapp to suggest Hodgson is a top manager is ludicrous. Hodgson is a joke and he needs to be sacked now if we are to salvage anything from this season. In 20plus years in management, can someone name me one trophy that he's won. I wrest my case, say no more
Posted 22:57 23rd December 2010
Sidwell in at west ham i hope. he could work well with Parker. Shame we lost Hitzelburger so early, he could have been big for us with the likes of Collison who we also lost to injury.
Posted 22:48 23rd December 2010
What??? LFC are going through a major CRISIS. The name is Hodgson, Roy. He must go before I lose all respect for a fellow brit. I would even go as far as to say Rafa made us look like a team. Roy has not got a clue.Martin O'neil....SOS!!
