Arsenal fan John Ryder says the FA Cup final will not disrupt his fight plans on May 30

John Ryder insists he will not let Arsenal's trip to Wembley disrupt him from delivering a knockout blow to domestic rival Nick Blackwell, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Ryder returns to the ring after a four-month break to face Blackwell for the British middleweight title at the O2 Arena in London on May 30, on the undercard of the Kell Brook-Frankie Gavin world welterweight title fight.

And the 26-year-old, a die-hard Arsenal supporter, will attempt to capture the first major championship belt of his career just hours after his beloved Gunners kick-off their FA Cup final with Aston Villa at Wembley.

"I am confident that Arsenal will produce the performance to get the win, much like the confidence I have in myself to put on a show and get the win,

Ryder has admitted that Arsenal's own date with destiny has gone a little way to disrupting his, with a large majority of the Islington-born fighter's following torn between cheering on their hero or their team.

"It has been a bit of nightmare to be honest, but I am just hoping for a double celebration now," Ryder told Sky Sports.

"It's a real shame because it is such a great bill, which I am lucky enough to be part of. But, because of all the great fighters that will be on show, it means that I am way down the order.

"With the FA Cup final kicking off at half-five and me presumably on at around seven, it has really conflicted with my ticket sales.

"Some people are football fans and some are boxing fans. My ticket sales have still gone pretty well and I am confident I will have a good bit of support. And anyway, I don't want to take all the fans away from Arsenal, so I will let them have a few!

"I am going to have some good loud people with big lungs supporting me, so they will be making enough noise, I am sure. But regardless of that, my focus is solely on beating Nick Blackwell for the British title, so this week cannot go quick enough for me."

Despite being fully focused on the task in hand, Ryder (20-1 KO12) revealed he will keep tabs on the events at Wembley before getting down to business in the ring.

"I will be at the venue by the time the football kicks-off, although I am sure there will be some brief moments where I will be checking the score on my phone," he said.

"I am confident that Arsenal will produce the performance to get the win, much like the confidence I have in myself to put on a show and get the win.

"But whatever happens to Arsenal on the day, it will not dictate my performance or result come fight night."

After suffering his one and only career defeat to Billy Joe Saunders in 2013, also in a British title fight, Ryder has shown the resilience needed to bounce back.

Five successive victories have catapulted the powerful southpaw back into contention at the top of the British middleweight division, although some of his recent performances have received less than stellar reviews.

Blackwell (16-3-1 KO6) has made his feelings known ahead of the bout, insisting he is ready to take advantage of another below-par performance, but Ryder has not risen to the bait.

"I just take what he says with a pinch of salt. I thought I was fighting Nick Blackwell, not Perez Hilton (the celebrity blogger)," Ryder said.

"He is just trying to build interest for the fight and if that is his approach than that is his approach. I would rather let my fists do the talking come fight night."
