Floyd Mayweather Sr has issued a stern warning to his son about a potential comeback but admits the decision lies with 'Money.'
Mayweather Jr officially confirmed his retirement after the victory over Andre Berto that took his record to 49-0 - but his father had already suggested he would fight on in a bid to better Rocky Marciano's record.
Having secured a trademark points victory over Berto, though, Mayweather Sr is urging his son to consider whether he still has the motivation required.
In an interview reported on boxingscene.com, the 62-year-old said: "All of them top guys, he beat all of them. What is he supposed to do, go back and beat them again?
"Boxing don't go like that. When you get to a certain stat, my son already broke all the stats. There ain't nothing left for him to do but fight when he wants to fight.
"I can't choose that for him. I can only say what I want to say. I can't speak for him. He's a grown man. I know what I would do. I would walk away because ain't nothing prove. All everyone in boxing wants today is a bunch of money and he's got that so what else?
"It ain't like he's got a little money. He's got a whole bunch of money. There ain't no reason to show nothing if you ain't feeling like it. I don't care what people say. If you ain't feeling it, don't do it."
Mayweather Jr made his professional debut in 1996 and beat the likes of Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto, Saul Alvarez and Manny Pacquiao on his way to equalling Marciano's unbeaten record.
