Scott Quigg must resist his burning desire to knock out Carl Frampton when the first bell rings, says his friend and former sparring partner Julian Ramirez.

The Golden Boy promoted featherweight forged a close friendship with Quigg in a past training camp and has flown over to watch his world title unification clash with Frampton, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Ramirez hopes to see Quigg before his career-defining fight and will pass on words of caution to the WBA 'super' champion ahead of his eagerly awaited showdown against IBF king Frampton.

A simmering rivalry threatened to spill over during a heated press conference and Ramirez admits Quigg is desperate to halt the Belfast man, but will urge him to exercise caution.

When I get to see him, I'll tell him to not to be careless and go for the knockout.

"He wants to knock out Frampton and that's a good thing, but a bad thing too," Ramirez told Sky Sports.

"When I get to see him, I'll tell him to not to be careless and go for the knockout. He's got to work him.

"Both guys want to go for the knockout and Frampton is saying that he's the smarter boxer and he might set him some traps, while Quigg is trying to go for the knockout.

"I'm going to tell Quigg just to be careful, be smooth, and let your hands fly."

Ramirez watched Frampton's US debut with interest and is reading little into the two knockdowns he suffered before defeating Alejandro Gonzalez Jr on points.

"I think Frampton is a great fighter, he's strong, he can box," said the 22-year-old. "When he came to the US, he was just trying to impress and really went for the knockout.

"He ended up walking into some punches. When he was cold, he got dropped, but got straight back up and won the fight easy."

Ramirez, who is unbeaten in 16 fights, hopes to see Quigg crowned as a two-belt champion and would relish the opportunity to showcase his own ring skills in Britain.

"I want the fight to be competitive, but at the end I want Quigg to take the win," said Ramirez. "He works so hard and I want to see my friend up there winning.

"Both guys are good fighters, they are at the top, in their prime, and undefeated. It's a great fight, a sold out arena, and it's going to be a really good fight.

"That would be a dream right there to fight in England. I want to travel as much as I can in my career and if I ever fought in England, that would be something huge."
