England seamer James Anderson has overtaken team-mate Stuart Broad at the top of the ICC Test Bowler Rankings.

Anderson claimed eight wickets at the Emirates Durham as England took a 2-0 series lead over Sri Lanka on Monday with a comprehensive nine-wicket victory.

Broad had been top of the list since January but Anderson has been England's dominant bowler in the opening two matches of the summer, taking 18 wickets in total to Broad's 10.

That haul was enough to move Anderson on to 884 ranking points above Broad (869), who drops to third behind India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (871).

Joe Root remains in second place in the batting list on 878 points, some way adrift of world No 1 Steve Smith of Australia (925).
