Australia have appointed former England fast bowling coach David Saker as their assistant coach.
The 50-year-old from Melbourne worked with England for nearly five years and gained great credit for the improvement of bowlers including Stuart Broad and James Anderson.
He returned home in 2015 to coach Big Bash League side the Melbourne Renegades and will now work as assistant to Australia head coach Darren Lehmann, starting from September's tour of South Africa.
Saker said: "The opportunity to work with Australia's best cricketers and coaches is one that I simply couldn't pass up and I am incredibly excited.
"With two day-night Tests against South Africa and Pakistan this summer, it's a great time to enter the Australian set-up."
Cricket Australia performance manager Pat Howard raised the possibility of Saker deputising for Lehmann on occasions given his head coaching experience.
Lehmann missed a one-day international series against New Zealand in January after being diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis, preventing him from making the flight. Batting coach Michael Di Venuto, who has since left for Surrey, deputised.
Howard said: "The fact that David has been a head coach previously gives us an option should Darren be absent or need a break from touring. We anticipate he will lead the Australian team at some stage during 2017."
