Ricky Evans struck a maximum 180 in just 2.16 seconds at the World Darts Championship

Ricky Evans hit a maximum during his opening-round match against Michael Smith in just 2.16 seconds on the Alexandra Palace stage.

Evans was eventually beaten by former PDC Unicorn World Youth champion Smith in a five-set thriller.

The world No 11 came back from 1-0 and 2-1 behind to book his place in the second round, hitting seven 180s and a 143-checkout in the process.

But the moment of the match came in the third leg of the third set when 'Rapid Ricky' released his darts in double-quick time.
