One Hundred and Eighty host Freddie Flintoff talks darts

Freddie Flintoff has explained his love for darts ahead of new show 'One Hundred and Eighty'.

The former cricketer hosts Sky 1's game show that pits your favourite professional darts players alongside a member of the public in a darts-themed entertainment. You can watch the first episode on Tuesday at 8pm on Sky 1.

Flintoff is handy with a cricket bat but told Sky Sports about his love for darts as well!

"I remember, back in the day, the days of Eric Bristow, Jocky Wilson and all those guys," he said.

"It's one of the best atmospheres in sport. The crowd get dressed up with their signs.

"I've liked darts for a long time!"

Flintoff believes it is the humble nature of darts stars such as Phil 'The Power' Taylor and Gary Anderson, who both feature on 'One Hundred and Eighty', that makes the sport so popular.

Flintoff said: "It's a credit to the sport that the players are so accessible. They're normal blokes.

"Everybody can try darts - I used to play in the social club with my mates, I was in the team."

He also recalled watching a certain Dutchman hit a spectacular shot that rivals achievements in Flintoff's own sport.

"Michael van Gerwen's nine-dart finish which is like a 147 in snooker, it's like the most perfect hat-trick, it's like hitting six sixes as a batsman!"

Watch One Hundred and Eighty, where Sky 1 will take viewers into the fast-flying world of darts in a new event-based game show hosted by Davina McCall with Freddie Flintoff. The first show is live on Sky 1 and Sky Sports 1 on Tuesday September 15th.
