Manchester City have identified and banned two fans for 'vile' chants about the death of Sir Bobby Charlton.
Charlton's passing was announced at half-time of City's 2-1 win over Brighton last Saturday and individuals were filmed singing offensive chants about the Manchester United legend.
City condemned the scenes on an Etihad Stadium concourse before the Premier League released a statement after being left 'appalled' by the fans' actions.
The club said in a statement: "Manchester City can confirm that two minors have been identified in connection with the vile chanting heard at the Etihad Stadium during half-time of last weekend's fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion.
"The individuals in question have subsequently been suspended from attending all home or away fixtures and their details have been shared with Greater Manchester Police who are investigating the matter.
"Following the conclusion of Greater Manchester Police's ongoing investigation, the individuals will be subject to the club's official sanctions and bans process."
The news comes after City and the Premier League moved to swiftly condemn the perpetrators on Sunday, apologised to Charlton's family and vowed to take the sternest of action against anyone found to have been involved.
