Liverpool and Manchester City have teamed up to fund a private jet to bring their players back from South America before Saturday's Premier League showdown.

City and Liverpool kick off the post-international break play on Saturday lunchtime at the Etihad, a game you can see live on Sky Sports Premier League.

A large contingent of internationals from both sides will be returning to England later this week, although it is their Brazilian players who were facing the shortest turnaround.

However City and Liverpool, helped out by Chelsea, have clubbed together for a private jet to bring their stars back from the Colombian city of Barranquilla.

City have Gabriel Jesus, Ederson and Fernandinho in the Brazil squad, while Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino could also feature along with Chelsea forward Willian.

All six will leave as soon as possible after the game and are scheduled to arrive back in England on Wednesday morning.

Sky Sports News also understands City's Argentina contingent Sergio Aguero and Nicolas Otamendi will be on a similar flight back from Buenos Aires after their clash with Venezuela.

Saturday's game could be a first in the Premier League this season for Liverpool star Coutinho, who has been sidelined by a back injury while speculation swirled about a move to Barcelona.

But he remains a Liverpool player, until January at least, and made his return off the bench for Brazil in their win over Ecuador, scoring soon after he came on.

Premier League clubs, along with Paris Saint-Germain, also banded together to bring players back from World Cup qualifiers in South America last November.
