Jose Mourinho has confirmed Eric Bailly will not need to undergo surgery for his latest knee injury and hopes to have the defender back for Manchester United's final two home matches of 2016.
Bailly was forced off during the second-half of United's 2-1 victory away at Crystal Palace on Wednesday after sustaining an injury to his left knee during the opening 45 minutes.
The 23-year-old was making his first start for United in almost two months after damaging ligaments in his right knee in the 4-0 defeat at Chelsea on October 23.
Bailly, who joined United from Villarreal in the summer, said following the match the injury was not serious and Mourinho says he is hopeful the Ivory Coast international will return for home clashes against Sunderland and Middlesbrough.
"I don't know how long," Mourinho said when asked about the severity of the problem. "No surgery.
"By the movement on the pitch we thought meniscus but no. It's a question to see the evolution.
"Hopefully we have him for these last two matches at home."
