Manchester United and Tottenham have both been awarded club licences for the Women's Super League for next season.

The pair earned promotion from the Women's Championship, with Casey Stoney's United winning the title in the club's first season after beating Crystal Palace 7-0 in April.

The league will expand from 11 to 12 teams for the next campaign, with only Yeovil dropping down to the Championship. The Championship will also have 12 teams next season, with Blackburn and Coventry both promoted.

Rovers clinched the Women's National League Northern Premier Division title by a 21-point margin to seal promotion to the second tier, while Coventry finished top of the Southern Division.

The Football Association confirmed both of those teams had also been awarded club licences.
