Frank Lampard says Chelsea's poor form is more than a blip, but saw signs against Stoke that they can turn it around.

The Blues suffered their seventh defeat of the Premier League term on Saturday evening as they were beaten 1-0 at the Britannia.

It is the first time ever that Jose Mourinho - who was banned from the stadium by the FA over his behaviour towards officials at West Ham, has suffered seven defeats in a season.

It leaves the champions 16th in the table, with just 11 points from their opening 12 matches.

"This is far from a blip, they are losing games regularly," said former Chelsea midfielder Lampard on Saturday Night Football. "They need to turn the corner very quickly. They can't dwell on it, they need to get out of it and put it to bed."

The Blues created the majority of the chances at the Britannia but couldn't apply the finishing touch as Pedro hit the post and Eden Hazard shot narrowly wide.

Loic Remy also missed a late opportunity when he hurdled over keeper Jack Butland and tried to stay on his feet, rather than go to ground.

"I saw glimpses of what they need to turn the corner," said Lampard. "I couldn't fault their performance, they just didn't get that little bit of luck to get the result.

"They need to get results, simple as that."

Asked what Mourinho could do to turn things around, Lampard added: "He will get to work in the week, but there is only so much he can do in training and tactically.

"He has to be positive because there is so much being thrown at Chelsea, there are players out of form and low on confidence, you can see that.

"They need everything to be behind them in a positive way and look forward."
