Bolton's Jay Spearing wins PFA Fans' League One Player of the Month

Bolton's Jay Spearing has won the PFA Fans' League One Player of the Month award for August and September.

Almost 8,000 votes were cast in the poll, which was held on the Sky Sports website and apps, with Spearing securing victory with 2,997 votes.

Port Vale's Alex Jones came a very close second with 2,780 votes votes, ahead of Scunthorpe's Josh Morris in third with 972. Rounding off the top six were Bristol Rovers' Matty Taylor (493), David ball of Fleetwood Town (380) and Millwall's Steve Morison.

The six candidates were chosen by our expert panel, which included Sky Sports pundits Ian Holloway, Peter Beagrie and Paul Merson, Mike Riley - general manager of the Professional Game Match Officials Board, and Malcolm Clarke, chairman of the Football Supporters' Federation.

And it is Spearing, who has come out on top thanks to your votes, which have been verified by an independent party.
