Mauricio Pochettino gives an injury update ahead of Tottenham's Europa League game with Fiorentina

Harry Kane has been ruled out of Tottenham's last-32 Europa League second-leg tie at home to Fiorentina on Thursday night.

Striker Kane broke his nose during last weekend's 1-0 home defeat by Crystal Palace in the FA Cup.

There was no sign of the England international at Spurs' training session on Wednesday morning, and boss Mauricio Pochettino later confirmed Kane and midfielder Mousa Dembele have been ruled out of the return clash against the Serie A club.

However, goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is ready to return having missed the first leg in Florence - which finished 1-1 - and the Palace game with a shoulder injury.

Pochettino is hoping Kane will return for this Sunday's Premier League match at home to Swansea, but did not comment on reports that the striker will be forced to wear a protective mask to protect his nose.

"Harry will be available for Sunday - we expect and we hope he's available. Today he wasn't here because he saw the specialist about his nose.

"On medical advice, it's impossible for Harry to play tomorrow. In the last few minutes against Crystal Palace he played with a broken nose. Today we need to fix the problem - it's impossible for him to play tomorrow but he's available for Sunday."

Dembele, meanwhile, faces 10 days to two weeks on the sidelines with the groin strain that forced him off against Palace, which is likely to also rule him out of next week's London derbies with West Ham and Arsenal.

"It's not a big issue but similar to before. It's small but we have a lot of games ahead so it's come at a very bad moment."
