Tottenham are scouting 22-year-old FC Copenhagen winger Robert Skov, but who is he, and how would he fit in at the Premier League club?

Sky Sports News understands that Tottenham - along with Watford, Wolves and West Ham - are monitoring Skov's progress after a stellar season so far in the Danish Superliga.

Skov is not a name that will be familiar to many British football fans. Here's the lowdown on the player, while we also take a look at his potential place in Tottenham's set-up...

The story so far

Skov began his career at Danish side Silkeborg, making his debut against Midtjylland in May 2013 before scoring his first senior goal against the same side during a 2-1 away defeat in October 2014.

He made 102 appearances for the club with 23 goals over four-and-a-half years, before joining FC Copenhagen in January 2018 in a deal worth just under £1m. Silkeborg were eventually relegated to the Danish first division at the end of the season.

So far, he has made 39 appearances for Copenhagen - scoring 22 times in the Danish Superliga - and currently leads the race for the league's Golden Boot, seven goals ahead of his next closest competitor, Andreas Skov Olsen from Nordsjaelland.

He was also named as Player of the Year in the Danish Superliga for 2018 and made an impression in the Europa League group stage despite FC Copenhagen finishing bottom of their table, scoring in their win at Bordeaux in October.

International career

Skov has played for Denmark at U18, U19 and U21 level and represented his country at the 2016 Olympics, where he made three substitute appearances and scored once against South Africa in the group stages.

He was also part of Denmark's provisional 35-man party for the World Cup in Russia last year, training alongside Tottenham's Christian Eriksen, but did not make the cut for the final 23-man squad.

How would he fit at Tottenham?

Tottenham have done very little business in the last two transfer windows - only four players left the club in January, with no incomings - but with their Premier League title challenge faltering in the last few weeks, the summer transfer window could be time for reinforcements.

Spurs are looking for another attacker who can play behind Harry Kane off the right-wing and through the middle, and Skov has thrived off the right-hand side for his club.

He also fits the profile for Mauricio Pochettino, who has a history of purchasing young talent to develop, with Eriksen already in the team to help him settle in.
