Sheffield United vs Blackburn preview

Image: Sheffield United striker Leon Clarke may have to settle for a place on the bench

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder must decide whether to change a winning team following their 3-1 success over Derby on Boxing Day.

Leon Clarke again started on the bench against the Rams but was amongst the scorers with a late strike although he has work to do to dislodge Billy Sharp, who scored his 13th league goal of the season in the win over Derby.

Ryan Nyambe is Blackburn's latest injury concern after the defender was forced off in Wednesday's defeat to Leeds with a hamstring problem, being replaced by Harrison Reed who had recovered from a hamstring strain of his own.

Elliott Bennett - who filled in for Nyambe in October - is out with a foot injury. Craig Conway (muscle), Ben Gladwin and Dominic Samuel (both knee) remain sidelined.

Sheffield United have only lost one of their last six games against Blackburn in the second-tier (W3 D2), though it was a 0-5 drubbing thanks to goals from Matt Jansen, Egil Ostenstad, Ashley Ward and a Damien Duff brace.

Prutton's prediction

Sheffield United will have been delighted with the way they saw off Derby. It was a big win for them to solidify their play-off position and prove they can last the course this season.

Blackburn won't know how they lost at Leeds but they need a win soon to stop their slump down the table. This is another tough trip and I think the Blades will have too much for them at Bramall Lane.
