Gabriel Jesus returns to full Manchester City training

Pep Guardiola confirms Gabriel Jesus' return to training and responds to Claude Puel's comments over Manchester City's pursuit of Riyad Mahrez

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola confirmed Gabriel Jesus has returned to full training but he is unlikely to face Wigan in the FA Cup on Monday.

Jesus has been sidelined since suffering knee ligament damage against Crystal Palace on New Year's Eve, but began training with his team-mates on Friday.

"It's good news," said Guardiola. "I don't know when he'll be ready [to play].

"He has done one or two weeks training alone and today is the first training joining the team."

Fellow forward Leroy Sane made his return from a ligament injury in the 5-0 rout of Basel, five weeks ahead of schedule, but Guardiola says he needs to work harder when City are not in possession.

Speaking about his impact against Basel, Guardiola said: "With the ball he was okay. Without the ball he wasn't perfect.

"He has to be involved again in our process, in our dynamics, how to play with and without the ball.

"But there is no doubt he can do it. He's done it in the past.

"We had a problem one week ago with just three strikers - plus Brahim (Diaz) and Lukas Nmecha, but they are young. To face into competitions every three or four days, we need all of them.

"That's why it is so important for us that Sane is coming back. The same with Gabriel."
