Midfielder close to shaking off calf complaint

David Platt insists Owen Hargreaves is edging closer to a return to full fitness and a recall to the Manchester City side. The Blues snapped up the midfielder over the summer as a free agent in spite of his recent troubles with injury. Hargreaves was able to get himself to the level required to compete for a top Premier League side, but has since suffered an untimely setback. The England international is currently nursing a calf strain and has not figured for City since coming on as a substitute against Aston Villa on 15th October. He is, however, working hard on the training ground and is expected to be back in the not too distant future. That is the view of City coach Platt, who feels the international break has come at a good time for Hargreaves. "He has been training for the last week so he will carry on and use the international break to keep that going," he told the Manchester Evening News.
