Championship clubs chasing Margate ace Appiah

Skysports.com understands a host of clubs are eyeing non-league hot-shot Kwesi Appiah. Appiah is currently the top goalscorer in the country with 32 goals for Ryman Premier League outfit Margate. The 21-year-old has been earning rave reviews and scouts from Football League clubs have been flocking to watch the prolific striker in action in recent weeks. Appiah had a spell at Peterborough earlier in his career, but saw his path to the first team blocked by Aaron McLean and Craig Mackail-Smith. Margate are thought to be willing to sell Appiah with the player keen to try his luck back in the Football League. Watford are thought to be amongst the frontrunners for Appiah after casting an eye over the former Peterborough man ahead of this month's transfer window. Appiah's adviser, Saif Rubie, has admitted there is a great deal of interest in the forward and expects him to move to the Football League this month. "Everyone in the country is looking at Kwesi and who wouldn't be after someone who has scored 32 goals by the 2nd of January," Rubie told skysports.com. "I anticipate things to be resolved with Kwesi very, very shortly about a move back to the Football League. "Kwesi is a top talent and he is keen to try his luck again at league level."
