Preston have completed the double signing of defenders Alex Baptiste and Marnick Vermijl.
Centre-back Baptiste joins on a season-long loan from Premier League Middlesbrough, while full-back Vermijl arrives on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee from Sky Bet Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday.
Baptiste, 30, told the club's official website: "It'll be good to be back playing again. I will just give 100 per cent.
"I'm getting older now so I have a bit of experience and so I can try and help the team by passing on things I have learnt."
Belgian Vermijl, 24, spent last season on loan at Deepdale, scoring twice in 32 appearances to convince manager Simon Grayson he was worthy of a permanent transfer.
"It took some time to get it sorted but in the end we got there," Vermijl said. "I had a great time last season so now that I know the club, I know how it works and I know everyone at the club, it will make it a lot easier.
"I'm really happy that I'm back here, so let's start playing."
