Netherlands and Feyenoord midfielder Jordy Clasie is set to have a medical at Southampton.

Sky sources understand Clasie is in the final stages of talks with the Premier League club.

Saints boss Ronald Koeman hopes the 24-year-old Feyenoord captain can be a replacement for Morgan Schneiderlin, who has joined Manchester United in a four-year deal worth around £25m.

Clasie, who has won 11 caps for the Netherlands, was left out of the Dutch club's pre-season friendly against Fortuna Dusseldorf on Sunday, adding to speculation he is set to leave the club.
