Grecians frustrated by U's

Exeter and Colchester shared the points in a 1-1 draw which did little to help either side in their respective battles.

The first half was dominated by play-off chasing Colchester and they struck early with the opening goal after six minutes. Ben Williams' throw found Michael Rose and he slipped the ball inside Exeter full-back Richard Duffy to Karl Duguid, who rolled the ball between the legs of Artur Krysiak and into the net. Colchester almost doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time, but Rose's effort was palmed onto the post by Krysiak. Exeter, who desperately needed a win in their fight to avoid relegation, had failed to get a shot on target until the 82nd minute when Jamie Cureton headed the equaliser. James Dunne and Steve Tully combined well down the right and the veteran striker glanced a fine header into the corner of the net under pressure from Magnus Okuonghae. The Grecians gave it a real go in a frantic finale, but Cureton was twice off target with good chances to win the game.
