Bury have Jacob Mellis back from suspension for a local derby with Bolton at Gigg Lane.

The midfielder was dismissed in the loss to Rochdale, having only returned from a ban in that game, and was absent for the defeat to AFC Wimbledon in midweek - the club's fifth reverse in a row.

Kean Bryan, also sent off in that Dale game, still has two games to serve on his suspension while loanee Tom Walker is ineligible to feature against his parent club.

David Flitcroft is hopeful Leon Barnett (knee) can return, though Chris Brown (knee), Craig Jones (thigh) and Tom Pope (ribs) are still sidelined.

Bolton will have to change a winning team due to an injury to Tom Thorpe.

The midfielder came off in the 2-0 success over Millwall on Tuesday with what manager Phil Parkinson feared could be damaged ankle ligaments.

Derik Osede may replace Thorpe in the XI, as he did in midweek, though he has yet to start a league game this year following a hamstring problem.

Max Clayton (knee) scored on his return to the development team earlier this week but he is still some way off a first-team comeback while Darren Pratley (broken leg), Dean Moxey (groin), Lewis Buxton and Mark Davies (both knee) are the other absentees.
