Hughes earns County late win

Lee Hughes' late winner earned Paul Ince his first three points as Notts County boss in a 1-0 home victory over Swindon.

Swindon should have gone ahead in the first half after Matt Ritchie broke down the right and cut the ball back to David Putton six yards out, but the former England Under-21 international's shot was smothered by Rob Burch. After the break, County's Ricky Ravenhill and Craig Westcarr had shots from outside the area saved by visiting keeper Phil Smith, and Charlie Austin's goalbound header for Swindon was hacked off the line by Mike Edwards. Two Ben Davies free-kicks then edged past the post for County and Jon-Paul McGovern's shot was gathered by Burch at the second attempt at the other end. But in the 88th minute, Westcarr swung a cross to the far post where substitute Hughes controlled and then stabbed home.
