In-form Bees sting Daggers

Brentford continued their surge up the table with a hard-fought 2-1 win over London derby rivals Dagenham at Griffin Park.

Substitute Nicky Forster's first touch with the ball with just three minutes remaining set up Bees striker Gary Alexander for the easiest of headers to clinch maximum points. Brentford started well enough, taking the lead after 10 minutes when Charlie MacDonald unselfishly set up Robbie Simpson to slide home from the edge of the box. But the Daggers responded before the break when Romain Vincelot swept home Danny Green's first-time volley from the right wing. It was a lacklustre affair for long spells, the highlights when Bas Savage headed over for the visitors and Toumani Diagouraga slammed a drive against the angle. Visiting keeper Tony Roberts kept his side in it until the end with superb saves from MacDonald and Alexander - but Brentford lost midfielder Sam Wood with a serious shoulder injury early on.
