Benno's big day still a doubt

X-rays have confirmed goalkeeper Ian Bennett did not break a bone in his hand during Tuesday night's semi-final clash with MK Dons.

The Huddersfield stopper remains doubtful for the League One play-off final after being forced out of Town's second-leg defeat to the Dons. Huddersfield won 3-2 on aggregate and although fears that the 40-year-old had sustained a fracture have been allayed, he could still miss the final against Sheffield United on May 26. Manager Simon Grayson told the club's official website: "The x-ray confirmed there's no fracture in Benno's hand, which is obviously a great sign. "But he still has severe bruising and we'll have to wait to see how the injury settles down before we make any predictions about the play-off final. "We're not in a bad position. Ian has been playing very well and Alex Smithies came on and did exactly what was needed too, making two important saves late in the game. Having such good strength in the goalkeeping department is a nice issue to have." Grayson said several other players had "bumps and bruises", but hoped he will have a full-strength squad to choose from for the Wembley showdown.
