Davis confident over future

Crewe boss Steve Davis is confident his contract negotiations will be resolved sooner rather than later.

Davis, who this week admitted he held talks with Championship club Burnley over their managerial vacancy before Sean Dyche got the job at Turf Moor, is waiting for the Alex board to come back to him after he made some slight adjustments to his original offer. He is set for further talks with chairman John Bowler this week, and told the club's official website: "The club have gone away to check things over and hopefully when we sit and discuss it again, we won't be too far away. "I am sure we will sit down again soon and go through the things that have been changed from the original contract. It is a commitment both ways and these things do take time, like the players' ones. "I know I have the backing from John and the Crewe board, it is just about one or two things in the contract. They have been very good with me and we'll try to finalise it as soon as possible." Davis added: "I want to take Crewe Alexandra as far as I can and I have always stated that I am very happy here."
