Lee Johnson says Bristol City 'looked like the Premier League side' in win over Manchester United

Lee Johnson says victory over Manchester United is probably his greatest moment as Bristol City manager

Lee Johnson said his Bristol City team looked like the Premier League side at times in their win over Manchester United.

The Sky Bet Championship outfit produced a heroic effort to beat Jose Mourinho's men to reach the Carabao Cup semi-finals courtesy of Korey Smith's late winner.

The game looked to be heading for extra-time after Joe Bryan's fantastic effort was cancelled out by Zlatan Ibrahimovic until Smith sent Ashton Gate into a frenzy.

"I thought at times tonight we looked like the Premier League side," Johnson told Sky Sports.

"The way we passed and moved and the speed on the counter attack. Our goalkeeper had to make two or three fantastic saves but that was always going to happen.

"I don't think many fans will be turning up for work in the morning - they'll be on the cider. Even the scenes at the end with the pitch invasion - you don't want to see it, but I'm sure everyone understands the passion that went with the result."

City became just the second team to knock out four top-flight sides in one League Cup campaign and have a two-legged semi-final to look forward to against Manchester City.
