Robins boss dismisses loan claims over defender

Bristol City manager Keith Millen insists he is keen to utilise defender Lewin Nyatanga instead of sending him out on loan. The Welsh international has recently returned from injury, but has yet to break back into the first team, which has alerted a number of potential admirers. However, Millen told skysports.com that he has no intention of allowing the 22-year-old to leave the Robins on a short-term basis. He said: "Well, Lewin has been injured since the start of the season and has been out for some time, but we don't have that many reserve games for him to feature in. "We sort of pick and choose when we need a reserve game or not and they are no where near the same level as first-team football. "That was a conversation that me and Lewin had for him to go out and get match fit because the quicker he does that then the sooner he can push to get into our first-team. "Since then he has played a number of reserve games and he isn't that far away from full fitness, so I'd prefer to keep him here now. "We haven't had any clubs come in for him anyway, so if that remains the case then we will continue to build up his match fitness and allow him to fight for his place like everyone else."
