Dickov allowed to add experienced hit-man to his League One strugglers
Sky Sports understands Oldham Athletic have agreed a deal with Watford to take striker Chris Iwelumo on-loan until the end of the season.
Despite their FA Cup heroics Oldham remain embroiled in a battle to retain their League One status and are keen to add seasoned professionals to a threadbare squad having earlier in the week signed 36-year-old former favourite Paul Murray on a short-term contract.
Scotland international Iwelumo, 34, is currently out of favour at Vicarage Road and spent time on-loan at Notts County earlier in the season.
An experienced striker has been top of manager Paul Dickov's wish-list ever since Matt Derbyshire concluded a loan stint at Boundary Park to join Blackpool from parent club Nottingham Forest in a similar arrangement.
Pending any last-minute glitches Iwelumo could be in line to figure at the weekend as Oldham travel to Walsall.
