Gillingham have announced the signing of former England full-back Paul Konchesky on a one-year deal.

The 35-year-old spent last season on loan at QPR from Premier League champions Leicester but did not get his contract renewed, ending his five-year association with the Foxes.

The defender told Gillingham's website: "Since I first spoke to the manager, I knew it could be a good place for me to play, and I want to go places with this club.

"I can't wait to get started. It's been a quick turnaround, so I'm looking forward to meeting the boys and hopefully playing a big part in a good season for the club."

He started his career at Charlton, becoming the club's youngest ever player against Oxford in August 1997, at the age of 16 years and 93 days.
