Aidy Boothroyd was happy with Northampton's rearguard action in their goalless draw at home to Chesterfield on Saturday.
Spireites top scorer Jack Lester went closest to nicking all three points either side of the break, hitting the crossbar and then shooting just wide, while Craig Westcarr and Sam Togwell had squandered earlier chances for the visitors. But, in truth, neither side really did enough to clinch victory. "It's pleasing to get another clean sheet but we didn't create enough chances as we normally do to go on and win the game," Boothroyd said. "We like to win our home games but we weren't firing on all cylinders. "That was disappointing but we've had some long trips lately and we've got a few players carrying injuries so I suppose it was a fair point. "I thought we might have nicked it in the end from the set-piece but we weren't quite incisive enough in the first half. We were taking too many passes when we should have got a cross or a shot in. "But that's all part of our learning curve, the positive was the clean sheet and that was down to an all-round team effort, we defend from the front and every player was part of that."Mixed emotions for Boothroyd
