Shots stroll to Town victory

Aldershot grabbed a second straight win after beating Cheltenham 2-1 in a one-sided encounter at Whaddon Road.

The visitors took the lead after 11 minutes when Anthony Charles coolly stroked the ball home when Cheltenham failed to clear a Darren Jones free-kick. Peter Vincenti doubled the lead in the 55th minute, pouncing on indecision from Keith Lowe to break clear and round goalkeeper Scott Brown. Shots midfielder Luke Guttridge came close to a third straight after with a free-kick which fizzed just wide. The lacklustre Robins snatched a late goal when skipper Michael Pook swung in a cross from the right that deceived keeper Jamie Young and found the back of the net. It was a rare effort on goal by the Robins, who had the chance to grab an unlikely point in injury time but Steve Elliott blazed over.
