Cheltenham Town have announced the double signing of defender Paul Black and midfielder Andy Haworth.

Former Oldham and Mansfield left-back Black and ex-Tamworth winger Haworth have both signed one-year deals with the club. Black, 24, began his career at Boundary Park before spells with Barrow and Tranmere. He moved on to Mansfield in May 2013 but made just one appearance and spent time on loan with Carlisle last season. Twenty-five-year-old Haworth was without a club after leaving the Lambs following their relegation from the Conference. "I'm looking forward to playing football for Cheltenham," Black told the club's official website. "It was important for me that this was a footballing move and I got a really good impression from (Cheltenham boss) Mark Yates when I first met him. It's a good club to come and play my football so hopefully I can kick on and show why I should be playing. "I actually made my debut against Cheltenham when I played for Oldham so I have pictures all round my house of Cheltenham and it was a good day for me. I have good memories." Haworth added: "This can be a fresh start in the league for me. "Mark really sold the club well to me. He is ambitious and has had some success over the last few seasons. He wants a hungry squad of players that want to improve themselves and that was a major aspect of me signing. "I'm a flair player who likes to take people on and I like to be positive. I like to get crosses in, set goals up and hopefully chip in with a few myself."
