Rotherham manager Steve Evans believes keeping Craig Morgan and Ben Pringle at the club is important.

Both men, who have been with the club since their Sky Bet League 2 days, are out of contract this summer but have been offered fresh terms by the Championship club.

Evans hopes to retain the two players but insists it is now out of his hands.

"(Chief executive) Paul Douglas is back after a few days off ill. He has formalised it all to them so let those discussions continue," the Scot said.

"I am quite happy for them to continue for a week or two to see where they go.

"I would love Ben and Craig to be a part of it but at this stage I step out now so it is down to whether our chief executive can agree terms with those two players.

"We would love to have them around, hopefully they are (staying).

"Over the season there were some big performances from Craig and Ben. I think they would be important signings.

"I have never hid my admiration for Ben. I have said it before when I arrived here Ben was in the cupboard and no one knew him. Now he is an established, quality Championship player.

"I think Craig Morgan started alright, then had a sloppy period, but finished it like a true lion.

"I would love to have both of them as part of my squad. If they're not part of my squad as a manager there is nothing I can do about it."
