Newport 1-4 Bristol Rovers: Pirates make it five straight wins

Highlights of Bristol Rovers 4-1 win over Newport from Sky Bet League Two.

Bristol Rovers secured their fifth successive Sky Bet League Two victory as they came from behind to thump Newport 4-1 at Rodney Parade.

Alex Rodman had given the hosts an early lead but an Ollie Clarke wonder goal and second-half efforts from Christian Montano, Matty Taylor and Ellis Harrison gave Rovers the bragging rights in the Severnside derby.

The hosts made the dream start when Rodman intercepted Rory Gaffney's pass in the second minute and eased past a number of defenders before finding the net via the inside of the post.

County's lead lasted just 13 minutes as Clarke found a pocket of space and dispatched a sublime shot into the top-right corner, leaving goalkeeper Joe Day stranded.

Montano's well-placed shot put the visitors ahead for the first time 10 minutes after the restart and on the hour Taylor extended the lead with a cool finish into the left corner for his 21st of the season.
