An explosive start to the second half from Northampton secured a 3-2 win at high-flying Wycombe.
Gareth Ainsworth's home side started well when they took the lead in the second minute.
Sido Jombati's high cross found Luke O'Nien unmarked in the area to loop a header over goalkeeper Adam Smith.
But the visitors did not let the disappointing start dampen their spirits and they deservedly drew level 10 minutes before the break when captain Marc Richards curled home a delightful free-kick on the edge of the area.
Momentum stayed with Chris Wilder's side as they increased their lead in the first minute of the second half.
Nicky Adams sent in a tantalising cross that allowed Lawson D'Ath to head pass Matt Ingram.
And it was another header just moments later that sealed the game for the Cobblers when centre-back Shaun Brisley powered home a header off a post.
Danny Rowe pulled one back for Wycombe late on, but it was not enough to rescue a point for Wanderers.
