Lee Clark has left his role as boss of League One side Bury, the club have confirmed.

Clark and his assistant Alan Thompson depart Gigg Lane, with struggling Bury 23rd in League One, just one point off bottom spot.

Saturday's 1-0 defeat at home to Doncaster was Bury's fourth straight loss and the Shakers' 10th of the season, more than any other side in the division.

A club statement read: "Bury Football Club can confirm that after a meeting between the chairman and Lee Clark, it was decided that Lee would step down as manager with immediate effect.

"As part of the changes, Alan Thompson will also leave his role as assistant manager.
