Ross County continue impressive start to Scottish Premiership season

Ross County continued their impressive start to the season after Liam Boyce’s header secured a 1-0 win over bottom club Partick Thistle.

Boyce nodded home a Jamie Reckford cross after 18 minutes to score what proved to be the winner in a disappointing encounter in Dingwall.

County goalkeeper Scott Fox was called upon to make key saves from Sean Welsh and Robbie Muirhead as the Highlanders moved to within a point of third-placed Hearts ahead of their Sky Live game with Aberdeen at Tynecastle on Sunday.

Hamilton are now just one point and one place below Ross in fifth after they defeated Motherwell 1-0 in the Lanarkshire derby at New Douglas Park.

Dougie Imrie got the better of Joe Chalmers to head an Antons Kurakins cross past Motherwell goalkeeper Connor Ripley and into the back of the net with 72 minutes on the clock.

Lucas Tagliapietra thought he had given the Accies the lead in the first half but his effort was chalked off for an infringement, while Ali Crawford smashed a left-footed shot off the crossbar.

Kilmarnock continued to improve as they picked up their second league win in as many matches, courtesy of a 2-1 win at home to St Johnstone.

A Billy McKay goal against his former side gave United the lead after seven minutes but Josh Meekings headed in on 56 to secure a point for Thistle.
