Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani has broken his silence on the recent penalty row with Neymar and says the situation is "relaxed".

The two were seen publicly arguing over penalty and set-piece duties last month as PSG beat Lyon 2-0 in Ligue 1, following Neymar's world-record £200m move to the club in August.

Following the incident, French publication L'Equipe reported that the players had to be kept apart in the dressing room after the game, while Spanish outlet El Pais also claimed that Cavani was offered €1m (£885,960) to hand over penalty duties to Neymar, but refused to do so.

The striker himself has now broken his silence on the situation, saying that rumours about what happened have "become bigger" than what it is and things are now "relaxed" between the two players.

PSG stars Neymar and Edinson Cavani were caught up in a few squabbles over who should take free-kicks and penalties during their 2-0 victory over Lyon

"It's football stuff. Sometimes things get so big. The truth is that everyone is aware that things have become bigger than they are," he told local media at a press conference while on international duty with Uruguay.

"These are things you discuss in the locker room. Everything has a solution. It's all relaxed now. It is important that everyone strives for the same goal."
