Mohamed Salah celebrated his first Fiorentina start with a goal as the Viola beat Sassuolo 3-1 to move up to fourth in Serie A.

The Egyptian, who arrived on loan from Chelsea as part of the deal which saw Juan Cuadrado join the Blues, put Fiorentina ahead after half an hour before setting up Khouma Babacar to make it two just a minute later.

Babacar added a third after an hour with Domenico Berardi grabbing a consolation for the hosts, who lost for only the second time in eight games.

Fiorentina's second win in a row not only extends their unbeaten streak to six but also gives them confidence for the trip to Tottenham in the Europa League on Thursday.

Palermo climbed to seventh with a clinical and convincing 3-1 win over Champions League-chasing Napoli.

Achraf Lazaar's long-range effort put the Sicilians in front after 14 minutes and Franco Vazquez added a second before half-time.

Luca Rigoni made it three as Palermo looked deadly whenever Napoli dropped their guard before Manolo Gabbiadini grabbed a late consolation for Rafael Benitez's men, whose four-game winning streak came to an end.
