German side let young striker leave for Denmark

Marvin Pourie has left Schalke to join Danish outfit Silkeborg IF. The 20-year-old striker has agreed a three-year deal after becoming surplus to requirements at Schalke. The Bundesliga club sent him on loan to two second division clubs over the last two years, namely 1860 Munich and TuS Koblenz. But Silkeborg director Kim Madsen believes he will be a useful addition to their squad after they finished fifth last season. "Silkeborg IF is always on the look-out for good new players," he told Midtjylland's Avis newspaper. "Economically, we have the budget to sign a striker capable of playing well and we've done a deal."

Liverpool youth player

Pourie was part of the Borussia Dortmund academy before being lured to Liverpool in 2006. The Premier League giants let him return to his homeland with Schalke in January 2009, though, signing a four-and-a-half-year deal at Veltins Arena. But the young German failed to establish himself in Gelsenkirchen too, playing for Schalke's reserves in the fourth tier last season. "Marvin Pourie has agreed to join Silkeborg of Denmark, he is leaving our club," a club spokesperson told Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper. He scored five goals in 22 appearances for Schalke's reserves last term.
