Mo Marley is to be named interim coach of the England Women's team, Sky Sports News understands.
The appointment of Marley, who is currently in charge of the U19 side, will be officially announced on Friday.
Marley, 50, who was formerly in charge of Everton Ladies, will take charge for the friendly against France next month and the opening World Cup qualifiers against Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kazakhstan in November,
The FA hopes to have a permanent manager in place by the end of the year.
Marley steps in following the sacking of Mark Sampson last week, after information came to light about his conduct during his time at Bristol Academy.
Sampson led the Lionesses to third place at the 2015 Women's World Cup and the semi-finals at Euro 2017 this summer.
