Egypt’s medical staff remain unsure whether Liverpool star Mohamed Salah will be fit for the country’s opening World Cup game against Uruguay on Friday.
The 25-year-old injured his shoulder during Liverpool's Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid last month, after tangling with Sergio Ramos.
A fully-kitted Salah took to the field as Egypt trained on Monday, though he was little more than a spectator as his Egyptian team-mates were put through their paces, leaving his participation against Uruguay in doubt.
Ehab Lehita, Egypt's managing director, said: "We're keeping an eye on the situation day by day.
"We have been following the case since his injury in the final of Champions League. Mohamed trained in Cairo, trained yesterday and is training today. We are watching the situation closely with the doctor.
"He has daily treatment sessions on his shoulder. He trains indoors as well in the gym, and today he trained on the pitch.
"He is gradually getting better. However, I cannot confirm today that he will play in the first match. All I can say is that we hope he will play in this match."
If Salah does not make it back in time for Uruguay, his next target will be getting fit for a clash with hosts Russia on June 19, before Egypt round off their Group A campaign against Saudi Arabia in Volgograd six days later.
Egypt are training at the Akhmat-Arena in Chechnya's capital Grozny.
