Merson's predictions: Burnley and QPR to be relegated this weekend

Merse also sees key wins for Leicester, Villa and Hull in their fight to avoid the drop

Sky Sports' Paul Merson gives his predictions ahead of another hugely important round of fixtures in the Premier League.

Following yet more surprises at the foot of the table last week, the Magic Man thinks the bottom three will all be on the end of damaging defeats this time around...

Everton v Sunderland (Saturday, 12.45pm)

I think Sunderland are struggling and while Everton did not have a great result last week at Aston Villa, I still expect them to win this game 3-1.

PAUL PREDICTS: 3-1 (14/1 with Sky Bet)

Aston Villa v West Ham United (Saturday, 3pm)

I am going to go for Villa to win this one 3-1, they are flying at the moment, especially Christian Benteke, who is on fire. And while everyone else around them at the bottom also won last week, they are winning football matches and that is why I am going to go for them.

PAUL PREDICTS: 3-1 (14/1 with Sky Bet)

Hull City v Burnley (Saturday, 3pm)

Image: Hull will overcome fellow strugglers Burnley at the KC Stadium, according to Merse

Burnley just do not score goals, do they? I think that is now seven or eight out of the last nine matches that they have not scored in. And that is why I am going to go for a 2-0 win to Hull, meaning Sean Dyche’s men will be relegated then this weekend.

PAUL PREDICTS: 2-0  (7/1 with Sky Bet)

Leicester City v Southampton (Saturday, 3pm)

Image: Merson has predicted three points for Leicester at home to the Saints

I watched Southampton last weekend at Sunderland and I was not that impressed with them and I think that they have now hit a bit of a brick wall. Meanwhile, I think Leicester are looking decent at the moment, so I am going to go 2-1 Leicester for this one.

PAUL PREDICTS: 2-1 (17/2 with Sky Bet)

Newcastle United v West Bromwich Albion (Saturday, 3pm)

Image: The Magic Man believes Saturday's encounter between Newcastle and the Baggies will end in a 1-1 stalemate

I am going to go for a 1-1 draw here. West Brom’s win at Old Trafford last Saturday was a big result for them, meaning that Tony Pulis’s men are now nearly safe. And so I think they will therefore be happy to settle for a point at St James’ Park, and I also think that result would suit Newcastle, so I am going to go 1-1.

PAUL PREDICTS: 1-1 (9/2 with Sky Bet)

Stoke City v Tottenham Hotspur (Saturday, 3pm)

Image: The Potters will get the better of Spurs at the Britannia, says Merse

I never bet against Stoke at home, even though they are playing Tottenham, and I am going to go for a 2-0 win to Stoke as they are a good team when playing at the Britannia.

PAUL PREDICTS: 2-0 (12/1 with Sky Bet)

Crystal Palace v Manchester United (Saturday, 5.30pm, Sky Sports 1 HD)

United have lost their last three in the Premier League without scoring, however, if you play against Palace, you really want to do so at Selhurst Park if I am being honest. They are not the same team when playing at home, and so I am going to go for Man United to bounce back from those recent defeats by winning this one 2-0.

PAUL PREDICTS: 0-2 (15/2 with Sky Bet)

Manchester City v Queens Park Rangers (Sunday, 1.30pm, Sky Sports 1 HD)

Image: City will prove strong for doomed QPR on the first Super Sunday clash, claims the Magic Man

Well if Saturday’s results play out like I have predicted, then QPR will be in big trouble before they even kick off against City. And I think that Man City will win this one easily 3-0 as they will want to make sure they finish in either second, or at least third place in the league so that they do not have to play that extra game to qualify for the Champions League via the play-offs.

PAUL PREDICTS: 3-0 (8/1 with Sky Bet)

Chelsea v Liverpool (Sunday, 4pm, Sky Sports 1 HD)

It all really depends on what happens in Man United’s game at Palace on Saturday night as if United get beaten at Palace, then it is a different kettle of fish. But Chelsea just look too good for me, they are very good at the back and so I am going to go 2-0 to Chelsea.

PAUL PREDICTS: 2-0 (9/1 with Sky Bet)

Arsenal v Swansea City (Monday, 8pm, Sky Sports 1 HD)

Image: Merson says his old club Arsenal will have far too much for the midtable Swans on Monday Night Footballl

I cannot see anything other than an Arsenal win here, and I am going to go 3-0 as I think they are playing very, very well at the moment - very, very well - and it happens every year, but you would like to think that next season might be the season… might be!

PAUL PREDICTS: 3-0  (15/2 with Sky Bet)
