Atletico Madrid tightened their hold on fourth place in the Primera Liga with a 2-0 victory at Espanyol.
Sergio Aguero broke the deadlock for Atletico after 27 minutes and Diego Forlan doubled their lead just three minutes later.
Espanyol battled bravely in the second half but Atletico held on to secure the win.
The result lifts Atletico to within three points of tottering Barcelona with just two games of the season.
Espanyol, who have now not won in eight matches, remain 11th.
