Ugandan becomes Hearts' first summer signing

Ugandan midfielder David Obua has become Hearts' first signing of the summer. Obua had set his sights on a move to Europe after leaving the South African club Kaizer Chiefs. He was recently invited to West Ham for a trial but decided to explore other options and met with Hearts boss Csaba Laszlo this week. The left-back, who can also play in midfield, has already linked up with his new team-mates for pre-season training. Obua's transfer to Tynecastle is subject to final medical tests and the issue of a work permit. Hearts will have to confirm with Fifa that Obua has played in 75 per cent of Uganda's competitive internationals over the last two years before he can qualify for a work permit.
